\u201c"Hitler wilde me vermoorden omdat ik Joods was. Nu wil Poetin me vermoorden omdat ik Oekra\u00efens ben." \u2014 Het verhaal van Roman Shvartsman als stem van herinnering en verzet<\/strong><\/span><\/p>

Op 27 januari 2025 \u2013 Internationale Holocaust Herdenkingsdag \u2013 sprong \u00e9\u00e9n toespraak eruit in de zalen van de Duitse Bondsdag. Deze werd uitgesproken door Roman Shvartsman, een Oekra\u00efner die als kind de Holocaust overleefde en bijna negentig jaar lang getuige is geweest van een van de donkerste hoofdstukken van de 20e eeuw. In zijn toespraak trok hij een directe parallel tussen Hitler en Poetin. Zijn woorden waren niet zomaar herinneringen \u2013 het was een waarschuwing aan de wereld: de geschiedenis herhaalt zich.<\/span><\/p>

\u201c"Toen wilde Hitler me vermoorden omdat ik Joods was. Nu wil Poetin me vermoorden omdat ik Oekra\u00efens ben."\u201d<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>

Deze woorden klonken als een oordeel \u00e9n een waarschuwing. Niet alleen over het verleden, maar ook over het heden. Rusland, dat Oekra\u00efne is binnengevallen, vernietigt burgerbevolkingen, verwoest steden, deporteert kinderen en brengt een ideologie van haat naar de bezette gebieden \u2013 precies zoals het Derde Rijk ooit deed.<\/span><\/p>

Geheugen als wapen tegen vergeten<\/span><\/h3>

Roman Shvartsman heeft zijn leven gewijd aan het ervoor zorgen dat de wereld nooit vergeet waartoe mensen in staat zijn wanneer ze verblind worden door ideologie. Hij stichtte tientallen Holocaustmonumenten in Zuid-Oekra\u00efne \u2013 in Odessa, Domanivka, Balta, Bohdanivka \u2013 plaatsen waar Joden werden afgeslacht tijdens de nazi-bezetting. Vandaag de dag staan veel van deze regio's opnieuw in brand \u2013 ditmaal door Russische bommen.<\/span><\/p>

In zijn toespraak in de Bondsdag herinnerde Shvartsman de wereld eraan dat de lessen van de geschiedenis niet alleen in schoolboeken staan. Als we ze negeren, herhalen tragedies zich.<\/span><\/p>

Oorlogstoerisme als weg naar begrip<\/span><\/h3>

Oorlogstochten<\/strong> Het is niet bedoeld als vermaak, maar als een instrument voor educatie en herinnering. We nemen mensen mee naar plekken waar de geschiedenis spreekt door middel van ru\u00efnes, loopgraven, musea en monumenten. Waar je niet alleen kunt zien, maar ook gevoel<\/em> Hoe fragiel vrede is en hoe gemakkelijk die vernietigd kan worden.<\/span><\/p>

Roman Shvartsman is een symbool van hoe persoonlijk leed een nationaal geheugen kan worden. Een herinnering die we graag delen met iedereen die Oekra\u00efne bezoekt. Herinneringstoerisme gaat niet alleen over het verleden. Het gaat over een heden dat nu vorm krijgt. Het gaat over bewustwording die niet ontstaat in comfort, maar in een directe confrontatie met de waarheid.<\/span><\/p>

Wanneer we toeristen oude Joodse getto's of slagvelden in de buurt van Kiev of Charkiv laten zien, geven we niet zomaar een rondleiding \u2013 we zetten de missie voort van mensen zoals Shvartsman. Want hij herinnert ons eraan: het kwaad keert altijd in nieuwe vormen terug als we het niet hardop benoemen.<\/span><\/p>

Waarom vergelijkt Shvartsman Poetin met Hitler?<\/span><\/h3>

Dit is geen emotionele retoriek, maar een historische diagnose. Beiden probeerden (en proberen) mensen uit te roeien vanwege wie ze zijn: Joden, Oekra\u00efners, dissidenten. Beiden rechtvaardigden hun geweld met verzonnen mythen over 'externe vijanden'. Beiden streefden ernaar naties, culturen en vrijheden uit te wissen.<\/span><\/p>

Dit is geen overdrijving. Het is de conclusie van iemand die zaag<\/em> Hij heeft het fascisme van dichtbij meegemaakt \u2014 en ziet het nu opnieuw. Ditmaal vanuit het oosten, in de vorm van de "Russische wereld".\u201c<\/span><\/p>

Herinneren is weerstand bieden<\/span><\/h3>

Roman Shvartsman is niet zomaar een getuige van de geschiedenis. Hij is de voortzetting ervan. Zijn woorden herinneren ons eraan dat Oekra\u00efne vandaag de dag niet alleen een slagveld is, maar ook een veld van herinnering.
