Military tourism in Ukraine

Military tourism is a special type of tourism, the purpose of which is to visit areas where military and military operations are taking place or have recently taken place.

Military tours - somewhat different from what is usually understood by ordinary tourism, the main purpose of which is recreation and entertainment. The idea of military tours is to visit places that have gone down in history at the cost of human lives, heroic deeds and incredible fortitude. This is a story that should not be forgotten.

Previously, Ukrainian military tourism included places associated with the Second World War - fortifications, bunkers and battle sites, trenches and defensive lines, anti-tank missiles, remains of equipment, remains of military equipment and mass graves. Today, these are the places where the Ukrainian military met the Russian invaders.

What is interesting about military tourism

Military tourism will be interesting for any person, as well as veterans and participants in hostilities and relatives of the fallen. Military facilities and battle sites are visited by both citizens and guests from abroad. During the military tours, there is an opportunity to understand the greatness of the defenders and honor the memory of the fallen, shoot at the ranges and even ride on the equipment that was used in the battles.

Such tours can be of various types:

·      military-historical - include visits to places of interest and
museums of military events;

·      gunsmith's - living in the conditions of the army, participating in the military
training, visiting military facilities, riding equipment, may include
visiting shooting ranges and training grounds;

·      military - staying in real "hot" spots, where
hostilities are currently underway.

The active development of this type of tourism can be considered relatively new in Ukraine. With the beginning of the Russian aggression, military tourism became extremely popular and spread throughout the territory of Ukraine, because practically every region suffered the consequences of the war in one way or another.

WarTours in Ukraine project

During the hostilities, foreign tourists and representatives of domestic and foreign mass media came to Ukraine. The whole world had to see what Russian aggression entails.

Foreign guests were filming documentaries and needed help in finding locations with the consequences of destruction, filming and communicating with residents of affected but unbroken settlements.

The cities of Kyiv region - Bucha, Irpin and Borodyanka have become the subject of special attention of residents of Ukraine and other countries. People had to know the truth, to find out what was happening.

Military tours is also one of the options for helping Ukraine and its defenders, because the funds received are directed to units that are helped by the project team: the War Tours in Ukraine project has become a good opportunity to support the army.

In addition to accompanying journalists, we help anyone from other countries who wants to see everything live and find out how it all happened. This is an opportunity to see with your own eyes the destroyed Russian tanks, artillery and missiles, the places of destruction caused by missile strikes and to visit a real cemetery of mutilated equipment, to talk with witnesses of Russian aggression and crimes, to learn reliable information that was not shown on television. With the help of a certified guide, you will learn all the details of the war.

Prospects for the development of military tourism in Ukraine will only gain momentum. This is one of the ways of getting acquainted with the historical memory of the people and the country, which will serve as a method of patriotic education of future generations.

Especially interesting will be the routes that lead along the path of the consequences of the war. Locations of battles and missile strikes, accumulations of mutilated enemy equipment, missiles and glorious defense sites. These places will continue to arouse interest for a long time, clearly showing the deadly consequences of war in the 21st century and how important the will to live and a peace worth fighting for are.
